Everything we know about James Gunn’s upcoming horror project but the name and the synopsis.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn took the time to shoot a top secret cameo for the science fiction movie Pacific Rim Uprising that was ended on the cutting room floor, and he’s had the time to write an essay on his favorite band, Minneapolis’s The Replacements. But he hasn’t come up with a title for his upcoming horror movie yet. The Untitled James Gunn horror project added four names to the cast, according to Deadline.
Jackson Dunn (Shameless), David Denman (13 Hours, Power Rangers), Meredith Hagner (Search Party, Younger) and Matt Jones (Mom, Home) joined the cast. It was previously announced that the film will star Elizabeth Banks who starred in Gunn’s creepy 2006 directorial debut, Slither.
Banks, who was featured in The Hunger Games films, Love & Mercy, Walk of Shame, and People Like Us, recently starred in Pitch Perfect 3, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, and Power Rangers. Dunn’s credits include GLOW, Get Shorty and Legendary Dudas. Denman was in Parenthood, Outcast, and The Gift. Hagner appeared in Ingrid Goes West, Royal Pains, and HBO’s Veep. Jones appeared on Breaking Bad, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, The Layover and Red State.
The Untitled James Gunn Horror Project is being produced by David Yarovesky, who directed The Hive. The screenplay was written by Brian and Mark Gunn. It is being produced by The H Collective alongside Gunn and his company Troll Court Entertainment.
The upcoming horror thriller hasn’t released an official synopsis yet, but Gunn reportedly described the film as “personal, and different, and perfectly suited for our times. And, yes, terrifying.”
Gunn is also slated to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, which will star Chris Pratt.
Principal photography on The Untitled James Gunn horror project began last week.
