Johan Johansson broke through as a film composer (having recorded his own music for many years before) off the back of his score to Denis Villeneuve’s movie Prisoners, and the pair worked together subsequently on Sicario and Arrival. His acclaimed work also includes the music for The Theory Of Everything and mother!.
Johansson’s loss was confirmed by his management company on Saturday, who wrote that “It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of our dear friend Jóhann. We have lost one of the most talented and brilliant people who we had the privilege of knowing and working with. May his music continue to inspire us.”
