The LEGO Movie 2 plans to leave pointy pieces on the proverbial floor on which its barefoot box office competition will step.

Mike Mitchell (Sky High…but also Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked) is taking over directorial duties from Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Moreover, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill will all return as part of The LEGO Movie 2 cast.

In the latest update, it appears that the timeframe for when that will finally occur has been significantly narrowed!

The LEGO Movie 2 Release Date

The LEGO Movie 2 has stopped short of naming a specific release, but it is now teasing a release sometime in February 2019.

The official announcement of the release month also came with additional teases, notably the sequel’s official logo, which, in turn, reveals the film’s full title. Henceforth, the formal title of the sequel is officially The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. – Shrewd.

The LEGO Movie 2 Cast

As mentioned, the original movie’s main players are all returning, making The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part into a proper homecoming. However, it was recently revealed that they’ll be joined by a notable newcomer.

Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip, The Last O.G.) is extending her well-earned time in the spotlight by joining up to be a voice actor for the eagerly anticipated sequel. The identity of her character has yet to be revealed.

Like The LEGO Movie, Girls Trip was a welcome surprise. The story of four women road tripping to New Orleans for the Essence Festival was also a giant hit, launching longtime actress Tiffany Haddish to stardom and even earning her some awards’ buzz, a Saturday Night Live appearance, and an upcoming animated Netflix show in the process. The good news here is that if Haddish keeps this level of work up and Lego Movie 2 does well, she’s going to need to buy a few more dresses.

We will keep you updated right here on The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part as news arrives.
