Lupita Nyong’o is in negotiations to star in a gender-swapped remake of classic action flick The Killer. The movie is set to be remade by original director John Woo for Universal and eOne, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with  Nyongo’o playing the role of the assassin, originally performed by Chow Yun-fat. Um, yes please.

According to THR, the studio has described the film as a “blistering thriller that blends espionage with extraordinary stunts, an assassin is sworn to protect a young woman she accidentally blinded during a mob hit years prior.”

In the original 1989 Hong Kong crime classic, Yun-fat plays assassin Ah Jong who decides to do one last hit in order to get the money for a singer he accidentally blinded during a hit. The singer, played in the original by Sally Yeh, needs an expensive operation to correct her sight.

The script for the remake was written by Eran Creevy (Collide), based on an original draft by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (Cloverfield Lane). The film is slated to being production later this year in France and Germany.
