You can’t keep a good bear down!

Paddington 2, the sequel to the 2015 live-action (with CGI bear) adaptation of the Michael Bond books about a bear and his British family, has become the best-reviewed movie on Rotten Tomatoes  ever. The Paul King film, which is being distributed by Warner Bros. in the U.S., has 169 reviews and counting—all of them “Fresh.”

Paddington 2‘s 100% record pushes Toy Story 2 out of the top spot. That sequel previously held the record, with 163 consecutive “Fresh” reviews and no “Rotten” reviews. Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird made waves late last year for briefly holding the record, with 217 “Fresh” reviews, before one contrarian critic gave it a negative review, dropping its percentage down to a lowly 99%.

Den of Geek’s Paddington 2 review is amongst the “Fresh” reviews. We called it:

Paddington 2 is a feel-good masterpiece, a cinematic salve for the prejudice of our times. Vibrant and kind, it imagines a better world for all of us. It is a movie where the main character’s “superpower” isn’t the ability to fly or jump a building in a single bound, but rather an earnestness and empathy that makes everyone around Paddington more earnest and empathetic too.

The first film in the Paddington franchise was well-reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes, as well. It currenty enjoys a 98% “Fresh” rating with 141 reviews. If you’ve yet to see either, what are you waiting for?
