WWE’s 2018 Royal Rumble was a monumental event for numerous reasons. Aside from the fact it was the first year to feature a women’s Royal Rumble match, it was also the second WWE appearance for former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey.

After the women’s Royal Rumble match, Rousey shocked the audience at the Wells Fargo Center in Philidelphia, PA by making her first appearance since Wrestlemania 31 in 2015, where she had a confrontation with Stephanie McMahon. She stepped into the ring and stood next to the winner of the women’s Rumble match as well as both Smackdown and Raw women’s champions. She then pointed at the Wrestlemania sign hanging in the arena, making her intentions known to throw down at WWE’s biggest event of the year, taking place on April 8 this year.

Rousey then made her way to ringside and shook the hand of Stephanie McMahon, who was doing commentary. That was the end of the show, but apparently not the end of her journey with the company. According to Sportscenter, Rousey has signed a full-time contract with the company, so the WWE Universe will be seeing a whole lot more of her in the near future.

There have been plenty of rumors that Rousey would be coming to the WWE, after her Wrestlemania and Mae Young Classic appearances in the past few years. Many speculated that the former UFC fighter would appear in the women’s Royal Rumble match, even though Rousey was in Columbia filming the upcoming movie Mile 22.

Rousey may be back to finish what she started with Stephanie back in 2015, but she could also have a title shot against either the Raw or Smackdown women’s champion, depending on which one is available during the PPV. Regardless, this is an exciting time in sports entertainment and a moment the WWE Universe has been waiting for.
